Engine Options for the 2020 Ford
Explorer
The 2020 Ford
Explorer has four engine options, and one ten speed automatic transmission is
available.
 Â
The standard engine
for the 2020 Explorer is a turbocharged 2.3L inline 4 cylinder. Generating an
amazing 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque for a base engine, this
overachiever savors gasoline like fine wine. MPG ratings as certified by the
EPA are 21 MPG driving in the city and 28 MPG cruising on the highway.
 Â
The 3.0L EcoBoost
engine is available in two versions. Developed by the Ford Performance Team,
the 2020 Ford Explorer ST engine drives a fire-breathing 400 horsepower, 415
pound-feet of torque and a top speed of 143 miles per hour. However, the EPA
has not yet certified the MPG ratings for this engine.
 Â
Â
The other 3.0L is a
detuned version of the ST engine. Still competent, producing 365 horsepower and
380 pound-feet of torque, its EPA rating is 18 for city driving and 24 highway
driving.
Â
Â
If a hybrid engine
is more your style, 2020 Ford Explorer has you covered. Proudly proclaiming a
range of over 500 miles, this 3.3L produces 318 horsepower and 336 pound-feet
of torque. With those impressive power figures, you can tow just about any medium-sized load you can find in Baxley.
