In these two Expedition models, the 3.5L gets 25 more horses, at 400 and 10 more lb-ft of torque, taking it to 480. With more horsepower and torque, you only take a slight hit on fuel economy, getting 16 MPG in the city and 21 MPG on the highway.   

It's important to note that this retuned Ford 3.5L V6 bests both available V8 engines that Chevrolet offers for its full-size SUVs, the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban. While the Chevy 5.3L V8 gets 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, the smaller Ford V6 beats it by 45 horses and nearly 100 lb-ft of torque. And although the Chevy 6.2L V8 wins with 20 more horsepower, it loses by 20 lb-ft of torque. This translates to 700 more pounds in towing capacity for the Expedition, at 9,300 pounds.   

Just pause for a moment to consider that the Ford V6 engine thoroughly beats two bigger Chevrolet V8s. This really tells you the state of engine development at both manufacturers.
