Exterior and Engine Features
Both the Chevy Traverse and the Ford Explorer are similar in exterior features, both favoring popular modern SUV styling, but the Traverse has a longer wheelbase by about 5.5 inches, making it harder to maneuver. This size difference doesn't necessarily have an impact on the Traverse's power or performance though, allowing it to pack in 300 hp with its 3.6L V6 engine and up to 5,000 lbs. max towing capacity, with front-wheel or all-wheel drive and a 9-speed automatic transmission.ÂÂ
The Ford Explorer, though a few inches smaller in its
wheelbase, still outpaces the Traverse with a chart topping 365 hp on its 3L
EcoBoost V6 engine and up to 5,600 lbs. in max towing capacity. It also offers
rear-wheel or all-wheel drive, a 10-speed automatic transmission, and three
additional engine options that all match or exceed the Traverse's hp output.
In terms of interior and tech, the Traverse offers many of the
typical tech features most buyers are looking for, including 8 seats, cloth or
optional leather seats, Infotainment 3 system with 7-inch touchscreen that
upgrades to an 8-inch screen on top trim packages, Apple CarPlay and Android
Auto compatibility, USB ports throughout, and hotspot capability. It also comes
with several safety features on the top trim packages like blind spot
monitoring, teen driver technology, rear park assist, forward collision alert,
front pedestrian braking, and rear-view camera. As nice as they may seem, these
optional features come at a high price. Interior and Tech Features

The Ford Explorer offers an 8-inch infotainment screen on the
base model and higher trim packages come equipped with a vertical 10.1-inch
tablet style display. Volume, tuning, and temperature control knobs are located
below the infotainment system so that you have easy access to control the
interior without having to flip through several screens. It also comes equipped
with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Alexa, and Waze connectivity, as well as a
wireless charging pad, and a digital instrument panel. With FordPass connect,
you can start the car remotely, schedule maintenance or roadside assistance,
and check vehicle diagnostics like tire pressure and gas level with the touch
of a button.Â
Â
The Explorer takes the cake with a full suite of safety and
convenience features, including a hands-free liftgate, push buttons to fold
seats quickly and easily, forward collision alert, rear park assist, rear-view
