Best
Seats: 2019 Ford Expedition or 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe?

Â
When it comes to
seating, if both SUVs are outfitted with luxurious, front bucket seats, and
second and third row bench seats, the Expedition and Tahoe seat eight. This is
the usual seating configuration for large, luxury SUVs. However, the Tahoe LS
can be outfitted with a front bench to squeeze in nine passengers, technically
beating the Expedition in seating capacity. Though, you really have to wonder
who is going to give up the luxury of power, bucket, leather-appointed, heated
and ventilated front seats just to shoehorn in one more front-row passenger. It
seems to be about the most anti-luxury large SUV thing you could do. But Chevy
gives you that anti-luxury option on the Tahoe LS.
 Â
Speaking of front
seats, along with the usual seat bells and whistles of leather trim, heated and
ventilated and, of course, power, the 2019 Expedition Premier front seats come
with a feature called Active Motion. This Ford exclusive is designed to reduce
muscle fatigue in your legs and lower back. How does the Expedition seat do
this? With the press of a button, you activate the seat to gently massage your
lower back and legs. For long trips or long days, the Active Motion seating in
the Ford really takes the ache out. The Chevy Tahoe has nothing like it.

Ford Expedition vs. 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe in the Technology Arena
Another option the
2019 Ford Expedition has that the Chevrolet Tahoe does not, is the FordPass
Connect app. From your cell phone, you can remotely lock and unlock, remotely
start and check how much gas is left in your Expedition. This is fingertip
convenience. Ford Expedition has it. Chevy Tahoe doesn't.

Engine
Power Battle of the 2019 Ford Expedition and 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe
The 2019 Chevrolet
Tahoe comes with 2 engine options. The first is its standard 5.3L V8. It
develops 355 horsepower, 383 lb-ft of torque, and gets 15 MPG in the city and
22 MPG on the highway. Also, its maximum towing capacity is 8,600 pounds.
 Â
The second,
optional engine is also a V8. It displaces 6.2L and raises the bar for
horsepower, at 420, and torque, at 460 lb-ft. With greater size and power,
however, this larger engine tanks in fuel efficiency, getting only 14 MPG city
and 22 MPG highway. Surprisingly, it also drops 200 pounds in towing capacity,
down to 8,400 pounds.
 Â
The 2019 Ford
Expedition Platinum, on the other hand, only comes with a turbocharged 3.5L V6
engine. Before you groan, this engine beats both Chevrolet engines in nearly
every way. In raw horsepower, this V6 generates 400 hp. This beats the Chevy's
5.3L V8 355 horses and nearly matches the 420 horses of the much bigger 6.2L
V8. The Ford V6 turbo beats both bigger engines in torque with 480 lb-ft and
maximum towing capacity at 9,300 pounds. Ford's overachieving V6 also whips the
two bigger Chevy V8s in fuel efficiency at 17 MPG city and 24 MPG highway. With
the smaller Expedition V6 you can tow more and go farther on a gallon of gas.
The Ford Expedition Platinum V6 thoroughly thumps both bigger Chevrolet Tahoe
V8 engines.

Who
has the Maximum Cargo Capacity? 2019 Ford Expedition or 2019 Chevrolet
Tahoe

Â
Last but not least,
let's compare cargo capacity. The 2019 Tahoe is cramped at a meager 15.3 cubic
feet in the rear, and 94.7 cubic feet maximum storage space. The 2019 Ford
Expedition positively crushes the Tahoe. It boasts 20.9 cubic feet of cargo
space in the rear, and nearly 10 more cubic feet of maximum cargo room, at
104.6 cubic feet. When measuring the Tahoe against the Expedition Max in
maximum cargo capacity, there is no contest. The Expedition Max has a cavernous
121.4 cubic feet of maximum cargo space. The Expedition Max cargo space is so
huge, you can almost hear your echo. In the 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe, not so much.
