The all-new 2020 Ford Super Duty promises to make one heck of a splash when it arrives at Franklin's Spring Creek Ford in Colquitt, Georgia later this year. Information surrounding the 2020 Super Duty is tightly held by Ford, but we've curated the best information we could from highly reputable truck companies, enthusiasts, and insiders to form the most complete composite possible.

Ford has stated that the all-new 2020 Super Duty will be the most capable Super Duty ever. Bragging new interior trim, materials and colors, this new Super Duty sports a stronger new front -end look, from new LED headlamps, to a more open grille, and a bolder front bumper. But most of you want to know about the new powertrain options, so here's the scoop.

The New 2020 Ford Super Duty Powertrain

With production slated to start in November of this year, we expect the first 2020 Ford Super Duty to arrive in our showroom some weeks later. There are three engine options in 2020, the venerable 6.2L V8 base engine, a bolder, retuned 6.7L V8 Powerstroke Diesel with higher horsepower and torque numbers than the present 6.7L diesel engine, and an all-new 7.3L pushrod V8 for higher horsepower and low-end torque. This brand new 7.3L V8 is an engine Ford customers have been asking for.

Ford's worthy 6.2L V8 develops 385 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. It is the base engine standard for the Super Duty.

The 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel will be updated for its appearance in the new 2020 Super Duty. The current 6.7L Ford diesel is rated at 450 horsepower and 935 lb-ft of torque. While Ford has not officially announced the power specs for the new 6.7L diesel, many estimates say they'll fall around 490 horsepower and 1015 lb-ft of torque. Until Ford releases this information, these are really educated guesses.

With numbers on the all-new 7.3L V8, Ford is even more guarded with its information. Joel Petrano, Ford Engineering Manager for the 7.3L V8 says, "It's new from the ground up." He stated that it was designed as the best combination of fuel efficiency, environmental considerations and power. And, its power profile will fit nicely between the 6.2L and the 6.7L Diesel. The 7.3L V8 will be available in all Super Duty trim levels down to the F-250

A new 10-speed TorqShift with SelectShift automatic transmission is in production for the new higher horsepower and torque engines. It is not the same 10-speed that is presently available in the F-150. All new material both inside and out make it more durable and able to shoulder the higher workload of more torque and horses. According to Greg Stout, 10-speed transmission Manager for Ford, "This new Super Duty, TorqShift transmission is really an all-new, clean sheet design." Stout stated, "Ford designed it specifically to complement the new (higher horsepower, higher torque) powertrains for the 2020 Super Duty." Even though the new 10 speed transmission is bigger than the F-150's 10-speed transmission, it only weighs 3.5 more pounds due to extensive use of new weight saving materials.

Additional High-Tech Features of the 2020 Ford Super Duty

Outside of the powertrain, the 2020 Ford Super Duty will be outfitted for driving ease and safety. Ford's suite of driver assist technologies include its BLIS, blindspot information system, with cross traffic alert and trailer coverage, pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking and 360-degree camera coverage, to name a few.
