The
Look of the New 2021 Ford Bronco
Pictures recently
released on the web show a retro look with round headlamps, an angular front
end, and a rectangular grille with the Bronco moniker across it, very
reminiscent of Broncos of the late 1960's and early 1970's. The rest of the
2021 Bronco body had design cues for 2021 for a sleek blend of classic and
contemporary styling.

The
Possible Transmission for the 2021 Ford Bronco
Jalnopik sources
claim that a new 7-speed manual transmission for the 2021 Bronco is also
rumored to have been designed by Germany-based Getrag, the largest transmission
manufacturer in the world. Unofficially called the MT-88, this new 7-speed is
to be mated with the Ford 2.7L V6 EcoBoost engine.
Â
2021 Ford Bronco May have a Hybrid Engine Option
It looks as if a
hybrid engine is in the Bronco's future. While Ford has not divulged any
information regarding displacement or number of cylinders, Road and Track feels
the hybrid will be based on a 3.3L V6 and electric motor paired with a 10-speed
transmission.

A
Two Door Version of 2021 Ford Bronco in the Future?
Regarding the
exterior, word from Road and Track magazine is that not only will there be a
four door version to directly compete with Jeep Wrangler, but also a two door
version to, again, go head to head with the smaller, two door Jeep Wrangler. At
a recent Ford auto dealer event in Palm Springs, Automotive News got wind that
dealers were shown a preliminary mock-up of a two door Bronco, further
corroborating the Road and Track sleuthing.

Patented
Accessories Make the 2021 Ford Bronco Highly Customizable
Automotive News
also weighs in with a report that "The Bronco is designed to be customizable,
with a removable hardtop and removable doors that can be stored in the
vehicle's cargo area." Road and Track added credence to this story, stating
that in April, Ford made patent submissions for "a roll-out mesh roof or soft
top to substitute for a hard top once removed," even further proof that Ford is
directly competing with the Jeep Wrangler lineup. Continuing with intelligence
on the 2021 Bronco soft top, Road and Track said additional drawings for the US
Patent Office showed that the fabric top could be pulled back and used as a
temporary canopy or tent.
Â
And word hot off
the presses this week is that the Bronco will get a pickup bed to take on the
Jeep Gladiator, again putting Jeep squarely within Ford's crosshairs. But that
won't happen until 2024.
